Deloy Robert Moore, a self taught artist, was born in Munich, Germany in 1951 and came to the United States at the age of six and resided in Dover, Delaware. He worked for the State of Delaware, Department of Transportation for 36 years, first as a draftsman then as a survey party chief, this career has enabled him to spend most of his time outdoors and deepened his love for nature. Now retired and living in Charlottesville with his wife JoAnn he can pursue his art. His love for nature iswhat inspires Deloy's art as well as his lifestyle. Pyrography involves burning images into wood with a delicate electric pen and then applying color with acrylic or watercolor. Deloy will walk streams and rivers, fly fishing while looking for rocks to paint or takes his camera out into natures wonders clicking away at deer, plants or landscapes.. The fish he catches and pictures he takes is his inspiration for his art. In addition to his fine art talents he is an accomplished multi-string instrumentalist, songwriter and teacher.
